Model For Selecting Church Music Leadership Instructional Book
Trends in present day church music performance are creating a need for a level of musicianship that cannot be met by the "A&W" (Available and Willing) volunteer. Increasing skill and competence are becoming necessary for musicians who enter the real of church music performance and leadership.
As pastors and churches seek to fill vacant positions in church music, it becomes necessary to attempt to bring into congruence, needs in church music of the church and skills, competence and effectiveness of the person(s) being considered for the position.
As a result of the differential between the church's needs in the area of church music and the availability of church musicians to meet that need, it has become necessary for many churches to enter into an arena of competition and/or systematic selection when seeking to fill vacancies in church music. The purpose of this model is to present factors that should be considered when selecting a church musician (church music leadership). Church musicians refers to musicians other that the Minister of Music.However, most if not all of these factors can also apply in the selection or evaluation of the Minister of Music.
